Part of the reason they were caught, outside the obvious reasons, was that Devon had bitten Brandon severely on the arm. This is a great thing to keep in mind if you are being killed. You may not be able to prevent your death, but they will be caught. Human bites are particularly dangerous due to germs and the person will most likely be forced to seek medical attention. Devon probably wasn't considering this while fighting back, but she did insure she would get justice.
